DEVELOPMENT GO OUT IN STYLE
RENMARK Development have gained some respectability from their mostly miserable season, by embarrassing fourth-place Barmera Gold 5-1 at the Berri Number Two Oval in the last round of the premiership season.
Gold, who go into their semi final against champions Barmera Dev Estate next week, matched Development up until half-time, before an onslaught of goals from the fifth-placed side made them look ordinary.
Geordie Franks’ 73rd minute strike proved only to be a mere consolation for Gold as Development ran riot.
Development, in the second half, had stars all over the pitch, in Daniel Clark, Ali Iqbal and goalkeeper Sulleyman Somuncu.
Gold’s defence, consisting of star centre back duo Charlie and Jim Makris, and wing backs Callum Trifonoff and John Sagolj tried hard and never lost heart, but were outclassed by a much better Development side.
DEV ESTATE SIMPLY THE BEST
DESPITE the absence of 39 goal striker Martin Barber, champions Barmera Dev Estate defeated rivals Renmark Olympic and are now strongly on the course to do the league and cup Double this year.
Without Barber, Dev Estate still had a strong front two consisting of Anthony Ielasi and Peter Sarakinis.
